Time flies when you are having fun...

Written by: Mom

I thought that once I was home for the summer I would add posts to our blog more often. Well, I was wrong. The past three weeks have been very fun and VERY busy. The week after school was out, we went down to Marble Falls for my 10 year class reunion. Brandon and I had a great time seeing all of my old classmates. Adelynn stayed at Nana's and got lots of attention.

The next week we boarded a plane and headed to Montana to visit Grandma and Grandpa (Brandon's parents). Adelynn did fabulous on the flights, which was very surprising considering she only slept 10 minutes the whole time. We hung out in Billings Friday and Saturday, then Sunday morning, we loaded up the car and headed to Yellowstone. We spent the next few days driving through Yellowstone, sight seeing, and taking lots of pictures. It was amazing to see all of God's beautiful creations. Many of the views were breath taking. It was funny to see how quickly we all grabbed our cameras as we passed elk, buffalo, bald eagles, and even black bears.

We headed back to Texas Friday afternoon. Adelynn did pretty good on the flights back. She had a brief 5-10 minute crying, or as Brandon said screaming, episode on the flight from Denver to Dallas, but she quickly calmed down when we offered her some Puffs. Thank heaven for Puffs. We have since unpacked, and the three of us have been taking lots of naps and resting up for the next big adventure...a visit from Uncle Michael and Aunt Heather for the Fourth of July.

As always, remember to click on the pictures to link to the entire album.

Fun in the Sun

Mommy and Daddy took me outside so I could have some fun in the sun. I laid on a towel and played with my toys. As I was playing, I heard Mom say I was getting my daily dose of vitamin D (whatever that means). I was enjoying myself but as soon as the sun came out from behind the clouds it got too hot, so Mommy took me back inside. I was a little thankful because it sure was bright out there. I couldn't seem to keep my eyes open or my mouth closed.

Other great news from this week...I turned 7 months old.

From what I hear, I am getting to be such a big girl. I'm rolling all over the place, and I've even started trying to talk. I'm not sure why, but Dad gets super excited when I start saying "dadadada". I was pretty proud of myself for forming my first syllable but that is apparently not enough. Mom and Dad keep making crazy sounds like "mmmmm mama". I haven't figured out how to make that "mmmmmm" sound yet but I'm working on it. Well, that is all for now. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Aren't I a cutie?

From May 2010

Time seems to be flying by, and with each day that passes, little Adelynn keeps getting cuter and cuter. She will be 7 months old this week and she is growing like a weed. At her 6 month well-check appointment, she weighed 17 pounds 13 ounces and was 27 inches long. She has officially moved up to the next size of clothes (6-9 months). For some reason I have stuggled with this size change more than I did when she jumped from 0-3 months into 3-6 months. Maybe it is because 6-9 months clothes look so big.

We are experiencing many other changes as well. She is beginning to get a little mobile. She can roll from tummy to back and from back to tummy in all directions. One day last week, she rolled all the way across the living room. She doesn't roll around too often but I am sure those days are coming. She is also trying very hard to sit up indpendently. She can usually sit up for quite awhile without help but as soon as she gets excited, she tips over backwards. Sometimes she thinks it is funny and other times she starts crying.

Adelynn is in the middle of trying to cut her two top teeth. She has been chewing on everything, including me, to try to get them to break through. Both of her bottom teeth appeared about 2 months ago, so the biting days have officially begun. She is continuing to do very well eating solids. We are making our own babyfood which has surprisingly been very easy and fun! Adelynn absolutely loves squash and she hates peas. We tried peas this past week, and as you will see in the pictures, it didn't go so well. The first day she started crying. The second day she started gagging. Let's just say we are putting peas on hold for a bit. Next on the menu is green beans.

As for me, I am anxiously counting down the final two weeks of school. I cannot wait to be home with her for the summer. We have a busy few months ahead of us but at least we will have lots of time to hang out together. Hopefully I will be able to write new posts more often since I will have some extra time on my hands. I hope everyone is doing well.

Love you and miss you all!
~Amber

5 months and counting...

It seems as though mom and dad are incapable of keeping up with this blog. I remind them all of the time, but they still don't update it with my lastest adventures. So, here are the last few months of my life in a nutshell...

Mom returned to work at the beginning of January. She seemed to be having a really hard time being away from me, so I learned how to smile to help make her happy again. (Check out the pictures...I'm quite a ham!) So, while mom is teaching all of her students at school, I am just down the road with a few of my friends at my own school. I have lots of fun during the day. My little friends do an amazing job keeping me entertained all day long, but I am the happiest when my mommy comes to pick me up. I smile really big and even laugh sometimes.

One day dad came and picked me up early. I was very excited but my excitement quickly disappeared when I realized I was going to the doctor. Dad tried to explain to me that I had to go for my 4 month check-up, but all I heard was that I was getting more shots...yikes! After the nice nurse measured how tall I was (25 3/4 inches) and how much I weighed (14 pounds 13 ounces), my doctor came in and said I was doing great. She was very impressed with how well I followed the little light and how I looked at her when she was talking. I also heard her tell mom and dad that I could start eating something called rice cereal soon. I wasn't sure what it was, but it sure did sound good.

A couple of weeks after my doctor's appointment, mom and dad finally got brave enough to try this so called rice cereal. I was a little unsure about it at first, but now I love it. I even scream out loud if mom doesn't feed it to me fast enough. I decided that since I am starting to eat big girl food, I should start doing some big girl things. I started intentionally grabbing my toys, laughing when mom tickles me, and my big accomplishment today was rolling over. I rolled from my back to my tummy many times. Mom and dad would roll me back over to my back and I would immediately roll back to my tummy. It was lots of fun!

Now that you are all caught up on my exciting life, you can check out some pictures to see how much I have grown. Click on the picture of me, then click on "Brandon's Gallery", and you can see pictures from Christmas 2009, January, February, and March.

Ok, I know....I'm a horrible blogger. I've heard it all, from my parents, my boss, even Adelynn knows it. I can't seem to keep up with all the pictures being taken. So here is a whole slew of pictures from around....humm, just before Thanksgiving up until almost Christmas. There are some pretty cute pictures of the baby girl in her pink santa hat too. We're dealing with miss Adelynn having an ear ache tonight (we think) so I figured I would take the time to update the blog. I hope you enjoy and I'll try to keep this thing more up to date. Also, after you click on the image if you want to navigate through picasa without having to come back to the blog you can click on "Brandon's Gallery" at the top of the page and it should bring you to the rest of the photos we have posted.
