Adelynn playing on the floor

It's not going to be a long post today. I'm just trying to get this video of Adelynn playing on the floor up and running. Amber put Adelynn on the floor with a piece of another playstation she has hanging over her. After showing her the red hangy down thing rattled and swung when you hit it she decided to try it out for herself. This is a video of her Adelynn hitting the rattle. It's a long video (about 5 min) and she doesn't do a whole lot, but as parents we think it's amazing. A little way through the video I figured out how to turn the video camera light on to make it easier to see. Let me know if the video doesn't work. Week 3 (Adelynn's Point of View)

Hi there, my name is Adelynn Grace Murry (don't ask where my parents got the name because the way I understand it they don't remember). Anyway, as you can tell in the above caption, I'm ticked off. First of all, mom and dad seem to be clueless as to the subtle insinuations I impart concerning my diaper situation. It seems their intuition suggested that I might have been famished or even slumberous. Mother and father, allow me to give you some insight on Adelynn 101. If I just woke up and ate 10 minutes ago, I'm probably not hungry or tired. I've dirtied my diaper and would very much like a new one. Get your heads in the game!

Now, enough about me being mad at mom and dad lets talk about me being upset with nurses. Mom and dad took me to the hospital Wednesday morning for my 2 week screening. I was taken into the office where this lady decides it would be a good idea to stick me in the heel with a needle! Then, because I wouldn't bleed to her liking, she decides to squeeze the life out of me to get more blood. Needless to say, I told her how I felt about it. Once we finished, dad had to lug me all the way back to the car because he forgot my stroller at home. This was a challenging feat given the sensitive state I was in following such a traumatic experience.

Something I am very excited about is grandma and grandpa coming in next Friday. At least these guys understand the difference between a dirty diaper cry and a hungry cry. Plus, they always want to hold me and tell me how much they're going to spoil me. Grandpa said he wanted to get me a pink pony. I'm not sure what a pink pony is, but I know that mom and dad were not excited about the thought.

Adelynn's Second Week Home

Wow, what a crazy week! I went back to work for the first time this last week. It was tough leaving Amber and Adelynn at home but Amber's mom (Nita) was here to help out while I was gone. We've received lots of texts, visits, and phone calls from all of our friends and family and we want you to know we appreciate the conversation and words of encouragement. We also REALLY appreciate the meals being delivered by everyone. I didn't realize how difficult it would be to work all day and then come home and try to cook dinner, play with Adelynn, love on Amber and rest before Adelynn's nightly "I'm awake and I dare you to try to put me to sleep time." Amber's been really good about letting me sleep as much as possible but sometimes one person just can't handle everything.
Amber, by the way, is doing great! She's beginning to get more active and hurting less from the trauma (mildly stated) of labor and delivery. As for me, I've developed a slight twitch in my right eye, right leg, left ear, and the little toe on my right foot from the long nights and ear piercing screaming that this little girl can produce....but I'm a trooper and only whine when Adelynn is sleeping, nursing, or otherwise occupied by her bouncy seat.
Adelynn is doing great as well. She went to the doctor last Thursday for a follow up on her 1 week appointment. Everything the nurse said was good news. She has gained back the half pound she lost in the first week, plus an additional half pound. The little squirt is up to 9lbs 6oz and strong as an ox, seriously, I can barley pin her down while trying to change her diaper. I had to use a UFC move that John Pribble taught me after an especially heinous dirty diaper this week, she sqealed, but when it was all over she knew who was boss......she was. Anyway, the doctor said we could stop the 2 hour feedings and go back to 3 - 4 hours and let her sleep all she wants at night (which is about 3 hours, 4 if we're lucky).

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Adelynn's first week home was definitely an experience. She has had her bad nights, (usually very late at night) but most everything has been great. She had her first doctor appointment Thursday 10/29. The doctor said that she had lost about a half pound and suggested we go to a 2 hour feeding schedule. Feeding every 2 hours has been hard on Amber but she is managing. We dressed Adelynn in her skeleton costume and took a couple of pictures. She scored quite a bit of candy but was upset when I told her it would rot her teeth. Please pray for Amber and I as I start back to work tomorrow. Amber's mom will be here until this Thursday to help around the house but it will be different without me at home. The pictures just include some from this past week at home. I hope you enjoy them.

Adelynn Is Here!!!

As I was creating this blog and typing the first post, little did we know, Adelynn was preparing for a birthday. At 10:45 Saturday 10/24/2009 Amber's water broke. We called the doctor to make sure that's what it was (sounds silly but we had to make sure). The doctor told us to head to the hospital. Very calmly, we gathered everything in the house that would fit in the car. We called family on the way to the hospital. I pulled into the wrong parking garage and took Amber to the wrong door (which was locked). We jumped back into the car (well, not Amber, she sort of scooted back in) drove around the building to the correct door and walked into triage. Amber was only dilated to a 1 so the doctor started her on patocin. For the next 7 hours she had some major contractions that dilated her to a 4. When she figured out that sleeping in between 2 minute contractions was not going to work, she gave into the epidural. I am here to tell you that an epidural is a husband's best friend. They could make a killing on that stuff in the black market! Anyway, around 2:00PM on Sunday 10/25/2009 the pushing commenced, and finally at 5:12PM Miss Adelynn Grace Murry was born. She weighed in at 8lbs 13.4oz, 21 inches long, and with a full head of hair. Not to mention, a full head of marconium. Yes boys and girls, the 3 hours of pushing stressed Miss Adelynn enough to make her poop. The nurses were worried about her breathing so she was transferred to NICU. After 2 hours, they sent her back down and said she was a healthy little girl! Amber's mom, dad, grandparents, and sister got to come into town and many of my family members were able to make it from Dallas and Borger. The biggest surprise (after Adelynn of course) was my parents who flew in from Billings, Montana to see their first granddaughter. Anyway, without further ado, I give you pictures of the new Murry...and I have to say, the cutest of the bunch.

Still Waiting for Miss Adelynn

Here we are at week 39 of the pregnancy and it seems Miss Adelynn is still enjoying her current home. She gets the hiccups often which the doctor says strengthens her diaphragm, and she is still moving often at night and after Amber eats. Amber's belly is the size of a small beach ball and her feet still swell in the afternoons after being up on them all day teaching, but other than that, she's doing great. I'll post pictures of her throughout the pregnancy including a picture from week 38. We go to the doctor on Monday to see if she is progressing anymore and to make a decision on an induce date. I'll keep everyone updated and try to make the blog a little more presentable soon.
